Data and the Sustainable Development Goals – IFLA Briefing
A key feature of the UN’s 2030 Agenda is its data framework. This provides indicators associated with each of the 169 targets, making it possible to track progress over time. These indicators were selected by the UN’s Committee on Statistics, on the guidance of the Inter-Agency and Expert Group on the SDGs.
For libraries, some indicators are valuable in that they relate to the work of our institutions. Others, however, are too narrow, or focused on questions which do not make it possible to shine a light on what libraries are doing.
This briefing offers a quick summary of the SDG data framework, the issues for libraries in this, and a list of relevant targets and indicators.
