For this year's International Literacy Day, we asked the members of IFLA's Literacy and Reading Section Standing Committee for their views on the day's theme - transforming literacy learning spaces.
Stockholm+50 is a key international environmental meeting coming up on 2-3 June with the theme: “Stockholm+50: a healthy planet for the prosperity of all – our responsibility, our opportunity”.
Since March 2020 librarians, along with the entire world, have been experiencing acute levels of stress and anxiety caused by the pandemic. Recently, stressors related to civil conflict have exacerbated panic levels. How can we help our exhausted library workers serving exhausted library patrons? Which resources can help library workers with burnout and anxiety? There are no magical solutions, but by working together over time we can build networks to support each other.
Open Data Day is celebrated on 5 March each year and provides an opportunity for open data advocates and practitioners to mark successes and explore key questions. We talked to the Library Map of the World contributors about importance of publicly accessible, up-to-date and high-quality data about libraries.
The articles in our current newsletter demonstrate how libraries truly align with the words of IFLA’s vision statement as they “inspire, connect, enable, and engage” young people around the world.
Stockholm Public Library's new program series is a recorded talk show about books - planned and run by children. Adult authors might be invited as guests, but librarians and other adults gets to stay behind the camera.
