With generous sponsorship from De Gruyter Brill Publishing, ENSULIB circulated a Call for Submissions for the IFLA Green Library Award for the ninth year in a row. Any type of green library or any outstanding green library project, initiative or idea was invited to apply for the IFLA Green Library Award. Libraries with a small budget but a great impact were explicitly invited to participate in the competition. Deadline for submissions was 15 March 2024.

All applications for the Award were initially checked to determine if they were properly prepared and followed the submission guidelines. In the longlist selection, an attempt was made to achieve a geographical balance, in alignment with IFLA objectives and values which include geographical diversity. The selected applications were added to the longlist for further review.

The quality and relevance of the project, initiative, or idea will now be evaluated by the international ENSULIB Award Reviewing Committee, following the IFLA Green Library Award Criteria:

To ENSULIB’s great delight 44 submissions were received from around the world, including Australia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Brazil (2), China (11), Croatia, Germany (5), Iceland, Indonesia, Ireland (2), Japan, Malaysia, Nepal, Portugal, Serbia (2), Slovenia (2), Spain (3), Sri Lanka, Thailand (2), Turkey, Ukraine (2), United States of America (2). The full IFLA Green Library Award 2024 nominated longlist appears in two categories listed alphabetically by country below. There are 23 submissions nominated in the 2024 longlist. 

The reviewing process is still in progress. The IFLA Green Library Award 2024 nominated shortlist will be published in May. The winners in the categories “Best Green Library” and “Best Green Library Project” will be announced in October 2024.
