Dear colleagues,

We are delighted to announce that the results of the IFLA Elections 2023 are now available here. It is with great pleasure that we extend our heartfelt congratulations to all the newly elected members and our sincerest appreciation for the remarkable contributions made by all current appointment holders to advance the mission and vision of IFLA. The Office looks forward to working closely with everyone dedicated to make a significant impact on the global library and information profession, especially the newly elected members of the Regional Division Committee for Asia and Oceania (RDC AO).

Besides the elections, the 88th IFLA World Library and Information Congress happening from 21 to 25 August 2023 in Rotterdam, Netherlands is another noteworthy event this year. If you would like to participate in this event in person or virtually, you could visit this page to complete your registration today.

This newsletter features exciting news in the region, from the conferences to library collection to the wonderful work by libraries to enhance their services. The next event to look out for is the webinar on 7 June 2023 that the RDC AO is working together with the IFLA Management of Library Associations Section and New Professionals Special Interest Group on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The registration link and additional information about the event are available here.

The Office would also like to take the opportunity to highlight an initiative spearheaded by the National Library Board, Singapore – Read for Books, a charity book drive to raise awareness and share the gift of reading with the less privileged. From 1 to 31 Jul 2023, for every 10 people who read for 15 minutes, one book will be donated to selected beneficiaries in Singapore. You could refer to the poster below or scan the QR code to learn more about this meaningful initiative!
