NOTE: a version of this message was sent by the IFLA President on 10 November 2023 directly to all IFLA Members, including directors and presidents of library associations. It was also sent to all IFLA volunteers.

I would like to share the news that following the Governing Board meeting of 9 November 2023, we are planning to relaunch the IFLA’s President’s Meeting.

With no World Library and Information Congress next year, it is important to have opportunities to come together, share, listen, and learn. I know that many of our units are already planning activities, and our Headquarters team is looking forward to continuing with our series of regional workshops.

I believe that a President’s Meeting will both complement all of this work, and offer an opportunity for as many of you as possible, I hope, to explore issues, trends and possibilities around my presidential theme – Stronger Together.

I am particularly thrilled to say that we are looking to host this in my own home city, Brisbane, Australia. The dates are provisionally between 29 September and 2 October 2024. I am deeply proud of the work of colleagues in Brisbane and across Queensland, and am happy that there will be an opportunity for you to meet them.

I will be sharing further information soon, but I hope that this helps you in your own planning for 2024.

I of course also encourage you to consult the report from the Governing Board meeting as a whole, where I believe we made some really useful progress in our discussions about World Library and Information Congresses from 2025 onwards, as well as in planning for our own work in 2024!
