IFLA WLIC 2018 Standing Committee Meeting

At the heart of IFLA’s work are our Professional Units. These groups are made up of experts from around the world and across the library profession. Their work, activities and projects make a real impact in their fields.

There are over 50 Professional Units spread across five Divisions – Library Types, Library Collections, Library Services, Support of the Profession, and Regions – so you’re bound to find a Unit that is involved in your area of interest.

One exciting aspect of the IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) is the ability for each Unit’s Standing Committees to come together in person to discuss developments, plan activities and organise projects for the coming year. This opportunity to network and have fruitful discussions is one of the many things that make the atmosphere at WLIC buzz with new ideas.

But did you know all WLIC delegates are invited to observe these meetings? This is the best way to stay informed on the work within Units that are of interest to you.

IFLA Section Standing Committee Business Meetings and IFLA SIG Business Meetings will take place throughout the week in Athens and are colour-coded blue in the WLIC programme.

You are invited to find what topics interest you and attend the meetings as an observer. Enrich your WLIC experience by meeting the committee, networking with others in the field and staying up to date with the work of IFLA across the Library Profession!
