Expressions of Interest are welcome from potential host countries for the IFLA World Library and Information Congress 2025. Deadline: 31 January 2024 [now closed]

The IFLA Governing Board invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from IFLA national association members, or other member representative bodies, to host the 2025 IFLA World Library and Information Congress: 89th IFLA General Conference and Assembly (WLIC). Note: the 2025 EOI is directed at and open to all IFLA member national associations, or other member representative bodies worldwide

The IFLA World Library and Information Congress (WLIC) takes place during August each year in a city selected through a competitive process. The congress typically attracts between 3000 – 4000 attendees from over 100 countries.

A National Committee of the local library and information services sector is the host organisation working with IFLA to hold the Congress. The Congress and host city are promoted internationally and online, significantly raising awareness around the world of the local profession, city and region.

The Congress is organised over an 18-month year period. A rigorous selection process is undertaken in the initial months, and then the National Committee will work with our Professional Conference Organiser and Headquarters team to finalise preparations in the year leading up to the Congress.
