We are pleased to announce the result of the IFLA Extraordinary Election for the key post of Chair of the Professional Council.
I wish to advise that IFLA has reached a settlement agreement with Gerald Leitner to dissolve his employment contract. This was based on the recommendation of IFLA's lawyers and in the best interests of IFLA.
The IFLA Governing Board met on Thursday 20 October 2022 by teleconference and discussed a wide range of issues.

On 7 September 2022, the IFLA Governing Board was notified by Adjoa Boateng in a brief email that she was resigning as Chair of the Professional Council.
At last week’s IFLA General Assembly 2022, President Barbara Lison set out the Governing Board’s concrete plan for further enhancing the way that the Federation operates. This both sets out steps already taken, responds to questions raised by members, and identifies Board priorities for making IFLA stronger.
Both Boards recognise the importance of the relationship and have discussed how they will continue to work collaboratively in the future and effectively to achieve their shared outcomes.

The Governing Board - as the leading body of IFLA has decided to appoint two Board members, Antonia Arahova and Halo Locher, to take care of the operational management tasks of SG within IFLA on an interim basis because of absence of the Secretary General.
