Two new members appointed to the Europe Regional Division Committee

    In October a call for candidates for co-opted members of the Europe Regional Division Committee has been announced. We are happy to share that as a  result the EURDC welcomed two new members: Dagnija Baltiņa from Latvia, Director of the Special Collections Department at the National Library of Latvia and Kateryna Aleksieienko from Ukraine, Partnership Coordinator at the "Library Country" Charitable Foundation.

    Meet the world at the World Library and Information Congress - regional sessions this year

      IFLA's global reach and geographical diversity will be on show at this year's World Library and Information Congress, in particular through the sessions organised by our Regional Council and Regional Division Committees. Each Committee has worked hard to prepare exciting open sessions, complemented by open business meetings, and our new Hubs Results Session, sharing views from our WLIC 2023 Regional Hubs.

        IFLA's Regional Division Committees will participate at their first IFLA World Library & Information Congress (WLIC) 2022 scheduled for Dublin, Ireland. They have prepared exciting Open sessions and are more than ready to share views and ideas on strengthening library advocacy at the regional evidence. Join their Open sessions to get to know what is happening in the world of libraries across all the regions of the world.

        Celebrating and supporting innovation and impact: Interview on the Europe Challenge

          The European Cultural Foundation has just launched an open call for the Europe Challenge 2022, after finishing the pilot edition with a small group of libraries, who went through a year-long programme and helped to co-design the scheme, along with the partners Demsoc, Public Libraries 2030 and OBA (Amsterdam Public libraries).   We interviewed the Europe Challenge team, Nicola Mullenger and Olga Alexeeva.           IFLA engages at the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

            IFLA participated actively in the Regional Forum for Sustainable Development for Europe, which included a strong emphasis on promoting resilience and ensuring a strong and inclusive future. Maia Simonishvili, member of the Europe Regional Division Committee, participated, using the opportunity to place libraries on the agenda, gather insights, and build connections.
