Through this programme, the IFLA Regional Division Committee for Asia and Oceania aims to inspire and encourage colleagues within the region to advance their efforts to bring the UN SDGs to fruition.
Internet governance covers a wide range of issues of significant library interest. We rely increasingly on the internet to achieve our mission of providing maximum meaningful access to information, while in turn being key players in ensuring that the internet itself is inclusive. We interviewed Nina Nakaora (Fiji), who participated in this year's Asia Pacific School of Internet Governance (APSIG), ahead of the Asia-Pacific regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF).

Dr Premila Gamage, Member of the Regional Division Committee for Asia-Oceania and Dr Basheerhamad Shadrach, Founder of Indian Public Library Movement and the South Asian Chapter of the INELI programme, represented IFLA and travelled to Bangkok in March 2022 to attend the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (APFSD).
A self-sustaining community library, Dawei Millennium Centre, was established in 2007 by five university graduates in the city of Dawei, the capital of Tanintharyi region, Myanmar. The library was founded in the region with the ultimate goal of transforming the community into a knowledgeable and digitally literate society.
Locating LIS schools worldwide is often challenging as there are no global databases currently in existence. The IFLA global database and map of LIS schools and programmes is an international collaborative project launched by the IFLA Building Strong Library and Information Science Education (IFLA-BSLISE) Working Group to address this gap. The global interactive database will be built using data gathered through an online questionnaire to be completed by LIS schools.
The Manuskrip Melayu project began during Malaysia’s Movement Control Order (MCO) when libraries closed and librarians had to work from home.
Established on 31 May 2021, the Thailand Nursing Library Network was based on the project ‘A study on Collaboration among Nursing Libraries in Thailand’ by Miss Surang Sirorojsakul,Librarian, Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University and her team, with funding from the Faculty of Nursing, Mahidol University.

The IFLA Asia Oceania Regional Division Committee participated at the 9th Asia-Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development, which was organised by the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UN ESCAP) and took place in a hybrid mode - physically in Bangkok, Thailand from 28-31 March. The IFLA AO RDC sent a representation committee to physically attend the Forum, while also organised the webinar “Informed societies at the foundation of a better post-COVID world” as one of the Forum’s side events.

The Far North District Libraries in New Zealand have created different workstreams to maximise all staff abilities. The different workstreams are Capability, Digital, Partnerships, Collections, Programmes, Children and Youth Services, and Outreach.
