The IFLA Academic and Research Libraries Section (ARL) is pleased to announce the winners of its travel grant program for the 2024 IFLA Information Futures Summit in Brisbane, Australia.
The post-COVID period has been transformational for academic and research libraries, and has challenged librarians to take on leadership roles and embrace change in support of students and researchers. Libraries have seen significant growth in digital scholarship, and increased global attention on open science, open publication, and open data. In response, libraries have built new services and platforms to support new and emerging user needs, and in many cases have served as advocates for changing business models and approaches to scholarly communications.
Women in Iraq have been working in libraries for many years and they constitute the majority in library management. We are honoured to present a number of models recognised for their achievements in the field of library and information science.

In 2022, the CLM produced the fully open-access book, Navigating Copyright for Libraries: Purpose and Scope - IFLA Publication 181. The book is arranged in four sections with individual chapters authored by world-class experts in copyright and libraries in the international context.
IFLA, working with the Technology and Social Change Group at the University of Washington, and with support from Stichting IFLA Global Libraries (SIGL) today launches the 2024 Development and Access to Information Report. This highlights uneven progress in delivering meaningful access, with advances in connectivity not matched by the spread of rights, equity and skills. In parallel, we need both better adapted laws, and investment in libraries to turn this access into success in delivering on the SDGs.

With generous sponsorship from De Gruyter Publishing (Boston/Berlin), ENSULIB circulated a Call for Submissions for the IFLA Green Library Award for the ninth year in a row. Any type of green library, or outstanding green library project, initiative or idea was invited to apply for the Award. Libraries with a small budget but a great impact were explicitly invited to participate in the competition.
IFLA representatives were active at the 7th meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, engaging delegates, strengthening networks, and speaking up about the importance of knowledge and information for development.

The IFLA Management and Marketing (M&M) Section is saddened by news of the recent passing of global library leader, Nancy Gwinn, who served in a number of roles on the committee from 2011 to 2019, including past Chair of M&M.
