    This week, libraries will be well represented at the United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York. We'll be organising an event with the UN Library, engaging closely with national delegations, and playing an active part in plenary sessions and workshops. This Summit will bring stakeholders from around the world together to mobilise action and search for innovative solutions for transforming education before 2030.

      Innovating and enterprising for libraries in development initiatives: interview with Merve Yavuzdemir

        At the heart of the work of IFLA and the library field as a whole around the SDGs is the fact that libraries are partners for development, across the policy agenda. As a result, it makes sense that libraries should also be involved in wider initiatives that look to deliver on development goals, at the national and international levels. We interviewed Merve Yavuzdemir from Turkey, who is running library projects with the United Nations Development Programme, to find out more, and to underline the possibilities for libraries everywhere to be proactive in taking a place at the table!

        Libraries driving lifelong learning: an interview with the Global Learning Festival team

However, this role isn't always as celebrated as much as it should be.           Evidence for all in times of health emergency: IFLA supports Cochrane Call for Action

            The COVID-19 pandemic underlined the importance of timely and comprehensive health information, but also the difficulties faced by many in accessing it. Action is needed to ensure that everyone benefits from the infrastructure needed to achieve this. This goal lies at the heart of the Cochrane Call to Action on supporting evidence responses to global health emergencies.

            IFLA engages at the UNECE Regional Forum on Sustainable Development

              IFLA participated actively in the Regional Forum for Sustainable Development for Europe, which included a strong emphasis on promoting resilience and ensuring a strong and inclusive future. Maia Simonishvili, member of the Europe Regional Division Committee, participated, using the opportunity to place libraries on the agenda, gather insights, and build connections.

              Libraries Upholding Cultural Rights: IFLA Welcomes Special Rapporteur for Cultural Rights Alexandra Xanthaki

                IFLA welcomed the UN Special Rapporteur in the field of Cultural Rights Alexandra Xanthaki as she addressed the Human Rights Council for the first time during their 49th Session. An IFLA representative sat down with the Special Rapporteur following her address to discuss priorities for the coming years and highlight the ways in which libraries work to uphold cultural rights for their communities.
